Every week, I make my weekly visit to face the scales at Weight Watchers. Most weeks, I go twice. Nearly every week my leader Lori Pratt says the same thing, “If if is to be, it’s up to me.”
It’s such a simple concept, but such sage advice.
When it comes down to it, we (that includes me) know what we need to do in order to live a healthy lifestyle. It’s the day-to-day decisions that make the difference. Someone may bring doughnuts into the break room…but it’s up to us whether we eat them or not. It’s up to us whether we plan out our meals for the week. It’s up to us whether we circle the parking lot for the best space, or we park a little further away. It’s up to us if we pop in that exercise dvd, go for a walk, or hit the gym. It’s up to us whether we make a concerted effort to eat our fruits and veggies.
It was the small things over the past few weeks that added up for me. It was the days I missed hitting 10k steps/day. It was the choice not to track my food. It was my bowl of pasta over a salad. It was my caramel pecan cheesecake instead of fruit. I made those choices, and as you can see, they added up.
It’s the small things that add up. And, in the end, “If it is to be, it’s up to me.”
I’m owning this…and moving on, because it IS to be.
