10 Delicious High Protein Snack Ideas

Full disclosure, I’m not a nutritionist. But, I’m food obsessed. I think about it all the time – and I’m always thinking about ways to satisfy, stay full longer, and maintain my nearly 200 pound weight loss. Here are my top 10 picks for high protein snacks to help you lose weight or maintain your weight loss:

Greek Yogurt

Dannon’s Light n’ Fit, or Oikos Triple Zero are great examples of high protein yogurts with lower sugar counts. Walmart tends to carry limited time varieties of Light n’ Fit like caramel apple, and pumpkin pie.

Protein Cheesecake

I can’t explain how much I love this protein cheesecake recipe, it is ALWAYS in my fridge. To make it extra special, I top with whip topping, sprinkles and/or my no sugar added caramel sauce.

Nuts

Almonds are my favorite nut. I love to buy nuts in 100 calorie snack packs. This makes them easy to take along, and provides easy and quick portion control. If you have an ALDI nearby, you may be able to find a fun flavors of nuts like their Dill Pickle Cashews. If you haven’t heard about Barukas, they’re a “superfood” nut that reportedly has 25% few fat calories, higher protein, higher fiber, and more antioxidants than other nuts.

Cheese

Cheese is packed with protein and calcium. These days you can buy a variety of cheeses in single serve snack packs – anything from string cheese to fresh mozzarella and gouda. I often stick to lower calorie varieties like parmesan (which is only 20 calories per tablespoon – try microwaving it to make parm crisps), and even cottage cheese topped with sugar free Jello powder or sugar free jam.

Hard Boiled Eggs

If you have an Instant Pot, these should be on regular rotation. Not only does the Instant Pot hard boil eggs super quick, I’ve NEVER had issues peeling them…the shells come off ridiculously easy.

Protein Bars

There are so many protein bar options on the market, but be sure to check your nutrition label. I look for bars that are 12 grams of protein and less than 7 grams of sugar. ONE Bars are almost always a great pick, not only do they taste great, but they are ridiculously low in sugar. Butter Pecan is my favorite.

Deli Roll Ups

Roll up a slice of cheese with veggies, hummus, or even a pickle in a deli slice of meat. Try a slice of ham, turkey, swiss, a pickle spear and a bit of mustard for a Cuban sandwich inspired roll up.

Protein Fluff

Protein fluff is when you take protein powder and whip it up into a fluffy ice cream type consistency. Devotion Nutrition’s Angel Food Cake protein powder is specially made to create protein fluff. Just add the following to your high speed blender or food processor: 1 scoop protein powder, 1 cup water, and 2 cups ice. Blend until it is super fluffy. You can add sprinkles, or play with extracts to change up the flavor. If you’re using another type of protein powder, try adding in 1/2 tsp of Xanthan Gum for a similar consistency.

Turkey Pepperoni

My favorite turkey pepperoni is the kind by Boar’s Head. It tastes like “regular” pepperoni and only has 70 calories and 10g protein in an entire serving. Try lining a paper towel with turkey pepperoni and microwave for 30-60 seconds to create crispy pepperoni “chips.”

Roasted Broad Beans

Made by the makers of Enlightened Ice Cream, these roasted broad bean snacks are on constant rotation. Available in a slew of flavors – these crunchy snacks hit the spot. My favorites are the buffalo wing, jalapeño popper, and nacho cheeze in the “Game Day” box. At only 110 calories and 6-7g protein, feel free to try one of each. They also come in sweet flavors.
